AT&T Principal Member of Technical Staff-VOIP & VoLTE in Middletown, New Jersey

Virtualized State Data Base ( vStateDB ) technology owner: This position will lead the technical design of the vStateDB on the AT&T cloud for the virtualized Voice over IP (VoIP) network.

Key responsibilities include:

  • making technical decisions driving performance, reliability, throughput, storage capacity, data recovery, interface protocols, and architecture.

  • Work with the VoIP sponsor to define scope, scale, and project milestones.

  • Lead the technical team using Agile methodology to identify impacts to the virtual network functions (VNFs) that communicate with vStateDB and drive solutions to those impacts.

  • Drive ECOMP requirements for supporting vStateDB, and apply ECOMP self-serve capabilities.

  • Document and communicate vStateDB design requirements to the vendor for development, vStateDB design and engineering rules to AT&T organizations responsible for deploying and operating it.

  • Define the strategy for testing the product, including leading the testing org in defining effective test cases for validating the vendor equipment adheres to design and performance.

Define vStateDB evolution: The position will explore newly emerging cloud database techniques for applications targeted in 2019 and beyond. Activities include researching and assessing technical and cost-effectiveness of alternatives and making recommendations for the business. Key questions to address include whether DBaaS will meet the needs of the real time vStateDB, as well as whether cross-geographic location shared vStateDB can be realized.

Engineering Rules: This position will also lead and manage the engineering rules for all VoIP functions used in AT&T’s network.Lead the team of technology owners to ensure all engineering rules are documented and current. Obtain customer approval for the engineering rules.

The position requires detailed knowledge of the current AT&T VoIP network design, as well as the unique challenges needing to be addressed when virtualizing data bases for real-time services at the magnitude (100M+ subs) involved. Position requires a motivated, self-starter and team player.Experience in VoIP network element virtualization, VNF HEAT Templates and Preload Worksheets is essential. Expert in DB technologies is required.

Education: -

Candidate shall have a PhD in an approved field from an accredited university and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in an approved field from an accredited university and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree in an approved field from an accredited university and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.

The position requires detailed knowledge of the current AT&T VoIP network design, as well as the unique challenges needing to be addressed when virtualizing data bases for real-time services at the magnitude (100M+ subs) involved. Position requires a motivated, self-starter and team player. Experience in VoIP network element virtualization, VNF HEAT Templates and Preload Worksheets is essential. Expert in DB technologies is required. Cloud experience desired.
