AT&T Senior System Engineer in El Segundo, California

This is a system integration and product definition role that leverages multiple strengths spanning across multitude of functional areas such as Enterprise IT systems requirements, video, broadband and satellite product design and feature management, customer care operations, change management, product strategy, business process engineering, new product launch and project management. The individual would have worked in some of these functional areas or interfaced with teams in these areas in an agile product owner or product engineer role providing requirements or technical specifications for new hardware and software products.

Responsibilities:

Define technical product requirements/features for hardware products like residential gateways, satellite or IPTV Set Top Boxes (STB) and Video streaming mobile apps to enhance customer user experience. Serve as a customer champion by articulating the strategic benefits of adopting a customer focused product design. Manage sales and care operational requirements by facilitating change control process, establishing traceability matrices and validation of test cases/plans/scenarios.

Additional job responsibilities:

Lead the development of system architecture, define end to end enterprise system requirements, evaluate design tradeoffs to ensure life cycle integration and operational success for new entertainment products and services

• Communicate effectively and collaborate with IT and engineering colleagues, product/ engineering owners, product strategy, business users and external partners in a highly cross-functional environment

• Determine business requirements through iterative and recursive problem solving process and translate those requirements into viable technical solutions to address customer or care operations business unit functional issues proactively

Business requirement encompass user experience, backend infrastructure, processes and product performance

Solve problems using actual customer data, analyze issues through root cause analysis (RCA) and other methods to enhance customer experience and reduce operational expense due to customer contact and service calls

Independently manage work efforts in a dynamic environment as an individual contributor, while also leading initiatives from start to finish (i.e., across all phases of an implementation or product launch/rollout)

• Participate in and contribute towards determining new solutions/technologies. Recommend additional system uses to resolve operational/customer care problems proactively and identify areas for improvement

• Develop relationships and work with product owners and service providers in realizing high-quality system solutions for AT&T Entertainment group

• Excel in a team environment, motivate others towards achieving departmental and company goals, and be dedicated to expanding his/her knowledge base as well as sharing that knowledge with others

Educational Requirements:

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in a systems engineering role and developing, designing, tracking, managing and validating new IT and hardware product requirements.

• Bachelor's degree from accredited institution in fields such as M.I.S., Computer Science or Engineering. Master’s degree a plus

Product knowledge:

Knowledge of DTV, Video, Broadband and Mobility Entertainment group products and care functions is desirable

Industry Experience:

• Good understanding of sales and customer care work center functions (quote to cash) is highly desirable

• Familiarity with business models pertaining to OTT/Streaming, broadband services and other video and mobility industry trends is desirable

Business Analysis and Project Management Skills:

• Involved in multiple full lifecycle (FLC) implementations and support projects

• Proficiency in various system development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies showcasing efforts such as planning, systems analysis, design, testing, training and documentation

• High level of proficiency with documentation and reporting tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio and Access

• Knowledge of project management principles, techniques, and tools. Experience with Agile/Scrum techniques is a plus

System/Applications Experience:

• Exposer to multiple enterprise Customer Relationship management systems is a plus

Miscellaneous Skills:

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Aptitude to learn quickly and ability to work on multiple, concurrent projects

• Experience working with teams of various sizes on projects with varying scopes, preferably in end user/ IT client capacities

• Data analysis experience is highly desirable

• Technical skills in SQL desirable

• Leadership and management experience is a plus, but not mandatory

Programming, coding, and database development skills are not critical for this role
